Dickens Fair A Success

The  22nd Annual Dickens Fair was an amazing Lake Stevens Community event where over 2,000 community members stopped by to shop, listen to children’s performances and to support their community.

The fair-goers were most generous this year, more than doubling what was raised in cash for the food bank over previous years.  On Monday the Lake Stevens School District’s Community Education Department turned in over $1,100 in cash and 57 boxes of food to leaders of the Lake Stevens Food Bank.  Thanks go to the Lake Stevens Fire Department members who volunteered their valuable time throughout the day to assist with the collections for the food bank and to direct traffic and parking.  Many PTAs and civic organizations and non-profits were successful in raising money for scholarships and community and school activities.  Proceeds from the rental of vendor space go to benefit the Lake Stevens School District's Volunteer Recognition Evening in the spring.

The fair had over 100 vendors participating and the fair was sold out in September.  Thanks also to the Lake Stevens School District’s school bands and choirs that performed throughout the day.

Again, it’s gratifying to be a part of a community that takes pride in community events and works to make our corner of the world a better place for all.  We look forward to our 23nd Annual Dickens Fair in 2009!

Sincerely,
