Lake Schools Plan for Fall All Day Kindergarten Option

Registration window May 7 - 27

Lake Stevens School District will offer parents the option of a Full-Day, (every day) Tuition-Based Kindergarten Program at elementary schools during the 2009-2010 school year. The tuition-based program will be an option that is provided on a space-available basis and will be contingent upon sufficient enrollment to fill the class.  The program will be funded by a tuition fee that pays the difference between the state-funded program and the full-day (every day) kindergarten program.

Application Process
Initial applications for the full-day (every day) kindergarten program will take place between Thursday, May 7th, 2009, and Friday, May 29th, 2009, at noon.

 Interested parents must:  1. Have a completed  kindergarten registration on file, 2. Complete the district’s Agreement for Tuition-Based Full-Day (every day) Kindergarten and 3. Provide a deposit check for $150 made payable to Lake Stevens School District. This deposit is non-refundable except under the circumstances that the district is unable to offer your child a place in the program.  Forms are available at your neighborhood elementary school, at the Educational Service Center and on line at www.lkstevens.wednet.edu.

If sufficient students have applied for full-day kindergarten program by Wednesday, May 27, parents will be notified that a place has been secured for their child.  If more applications have been received than spaces available, a random drawing of names will be held.  The drawing will determine which students will be in the full-day class.  If insufficient applications have been received by May 27, parents will be notified and a refund will be processed.  After May 27, enrollment will be on a space-available basis.  A waiting list may be set up, if necessary. 

Tuition
Tuition for the full-day (every day) program for the 2009-2010 school year is $2,950.00. A monthly payment plan is available as well as a reduced fee schedule for qualifying families.

Out of District Students
After May 27 out of district students will be considered for the full-day (every day) program on a space available basis after places have been offered to resident students.
