Local Businessman Donates Thousands to Help Athletes
Some Lake Stevens 7th and 8th grade student athletes are able to participate in sports this year due to the generosity of local business man, Todd Busby.
Todd Busby, President of Process Solutions in Arlington has donated $5,000 in October and will donate another $5,000 in January. This donation goes directly to help offset the athletic participation fees that are required for interscholastic sports.
Busby knows first hand that his donation has made a difference. He recently received a note from a student athlete that thanked him for the donation which made it possible for him to play sports saying, “things have been difficult and one of my parent has been out of work for a while, your help has made it possible for me to play.”
The donation has enabled the district to reduce the 7th and 8th grade participation fees in half – from $40.00 per sport to $20.00 per sport, and for students who qualify for free/reduced lunch from $20.00 to $10.00.
In making this donation Busby stated, “This is such a critical time for kids to get involved in sports and it is my hope that this donation will enable all students the ability to participate if they are interested.”
It is also his hope that other companies will join in the effort to help reduce athletic participation fees. Additionally, Process Solutions has made a donation to Arlington School District.
Busby is a Lake Stevens community member, and parent. He is involved in Lake Stevens Junior Athletics and is currently a boy’s soccer coach.
