• Swim Lesson FAQ

    How do I register?
All registration is done in person at the pool. We do not offer registration online or by phone.

What’s the difference between pre-registration and open registration?
Pre-registration is for families who are currently enrolled in swim lessons at the LSSD Pool. If you aren’t currently enrolled in swim lessons, you can register during open registration.

My family is currently enrolled in Saturday lessons, but we want to switch to Monday/Wednesday lessons. Are we eligible for Monday/Wednesday pre-registration?
Yes. If you’re currently enrolled in swim lessons, you may register for any available swim lessons during pre-registration.

My family is currently enrolled in swim lessons, but I can’t make it to the pool the day pre-registration begins. Can I register early?
No, but you’re welcome to send a friend or relative to register for you.

At what time do I register?
Regardless of whether you enroll during pre-registration or open registration, you can register anytime the pool is open to the public. Please see our facility schedule.

Can I register during school hours?
No. During the school year, the pool is closed to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

    What are the pool hours?
    During the school year, the pool is open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Is the pool open during the summer?
    Yes. June 20 through August 28, the pool is open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

What form of payment does the pool accept?
The pool accepts cash (no bills larger than $20), checks (made out to LSSD), and most major credit/debit cards. We do not accept American Express.

Does my child need water wings or a life jacket?
    No.

    Does my child need goggles?
Yes. Swim goggles are highly recommended. You can also borrow a pair from the lifeguard stand.

How many kids are in each class?
Our parent/child classes can have up to 10 children. Our pre-school classes (for 3- and 4-year-olds) can have up to three participants. Our youth level classes (ages 5 and up) can have up to five participants.

What’s the difference between private lessons and group lessons?

    • Private lessons have one instructor and one participant. They last 30 minutes each and cost $24 per lesson.
    • Semi-private lessons have one instructor and two participants of the same swimming ability. They last 30 minutes each and cost $36 per lesson for two participants or $18 per participant.
    • Group lessons can have up to five participants in the class. They last 25 minutes each and cost $6 per lesson.

We recommend private lessons for participants (ages 5+) who may require some extra attention, participants who are trying to achieve specific goals (e.g., learning how to dive or kick breaststroke correctly), and participants who may be older than others in their current level.

Can I request a specific instructor?
Yes, you’re welcome to request a specific instructor, but please note that we may not be able to accommodate your request.

    Where is the pool located?
The pool is located inside the high school across the hall from the main gym. Our address is 2908 113th Ave NE, Lake Stevens, Washington.

    How deep is the pool?
In the shallow end, the pool ranges from 3½ to 4 feet deep. The middle of the pool is 5 feet deep, with a steep decline to 9 feet. In the deep end, the pool is 12 feet deep. The pool has six lanes at 25 yards per lane.
