• Our Farm to School Program

Lake Stevens SD is one of 20 districts in the state of Washington to be chosen to participate in a two year grant through the Washington Sustainable Food & Farming Network to help facilitate the connection between our school district, community and local farm suppliers.

In the fall of 2011, the Food & Nutrition Services Department began making a targeted effort to increase local purchases of fruits and vegetables when feasible. This program is a great education and partnership opportunity to work with the elementary PTA groups to encourage students and families to increase their awareness and consumption of nutrient-rich produce at home.

We look forward to doing our part in the schools by enriching our students' health by increasing their consumption of local fresh fruits and vegetables. We recognize this as a fabulous opportunity to educate the students about being eating healthy in the cafeteria and hopefully bring the concept full circle with student field trips to a local farm.

Please check back regularly to follow our progress. If you would like to get involved, please contact Mollie Langum, Food & Nutrition Supervisor, via email: mollie_langum@lkstevens.wednet.edu or call (425) 335-1561.
