Expansion at Cavelero Mid High School

Lake Stevens School District is expanding the Transportation department’s satellite bus parking at Cavelero Mid High School. This project will increase the district’s ability to support student transportation and accommodate continued enrollment growth.

Project Timeline

  • Construction begins: Summer 2027
  • Estimated opening: Fall 2027

Project Overview

The expanded Transportation Satellite Parking Lot will provide additional space for bus parking and transportation operations. Once complete, the site will allow for 17 additional school buses, increasing the district’s capacity to transport students safely and efficiently.

Looking ahead, this space has been designed with long-term flexibility in mind. If Cavelero Mid High School eventually transitions to become the district’s second comprehensive high school (well into the future, with no date determined), the area will be converted to student parking.

Why this Project is Needed

The expanded Transportation Satellite Parking Lot will:

  • Provide additional space for 17 more buses to support growing transportation needs
  • Address capacity limitations at the district’s main transportation facility, which cannot be expanded further
  • Support a growing student population that continues to increase the demand for bus transportation
  • Improve efficiency by allowing buses to be staged closer to areas where students live and attend school
  • This expansion helps ensure the district can continue providing safe, reliable transportation for students as enrollment grows.

Site Considerations

Construction and site improvements will take place on the Cavelero Mid High School campus. Planning for the project includes coordination with school staff to minimize disruptions and maintain safe access for students, staff, and families during construction.
