Pesticide Notification
Originally posted Sept. 2016; revised Feb. 4, 2026 with current staff contact information and web-based form.
Dear Parent or Guardian,
In compliance with state law and the Lake Stevens School District Board of Director's policy, this letter is to inform you about our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plan for controlling insects, rodents and weeds in our district.
- Through our maintenance and cleaning programs, we will continue to monitor and maintain clean facilities and grounds to avoid pest problems.
- Much of our weeding is done by hand or with the use of natural products that deter the growth of weeds.
- From time to time, it may be necessary to use chemicals to control weed or pest problems. Chemicals will only be used when necessary and will not be routinely applied.
- When chemicals must be used, the district will try to use the least toxic products when possible. Access to treated areas will be secured against unauthorized access for the period specified on the pesticide label and notices will be posted at the site for the period specified by the manufacturer.
A complete list of pesticides (and accompanying Safety Data Sheets) that may be used at schools this year is available on our website. Additionally, the list may be obtained by contacting Greg Lineberry at the Lake Stevens School District Educational Service Center at (425) 335-1500 ext. 1566.
Parents or guardians may request prior notification of specific pesticide application made at school sites. To receive notification, please complete and submit the form below and you will be placed on the notification registry.
Registrants will be notified at least 48 hours prior to pesticide application when the school will be occupied in the two days following the application. Students and staff will be notified by email or written notice. Exemptions to this notification include cleansers (disinfectants), baits and gels, and any EPA exempt pesticides.
If you have any questions, please contact Greg Lineberry at the above-mentioned phone number. You may also visit http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/ipm for more information on Integrated Pest Management.
Sincerely,
Bobby Vaughn
Manager of Facilities and Operations
