Construction Update

Lake Stevens School District is moving forward with the modernization of Glenwood Elementary School, made possible through the voter-approved 2025 School Construction Bond.

Project Timeline

• Current phase: Construction Document Phase
• Estimated opening: 2028-29 school year

2027-28 School Year: Glenwood students will attend the new Elementary School #8 while the current Glenwood building is rebuilt on its existing site.

Project Overview

The new Glenwood Elementary will be designed to support modern teaching and learning while providing safe, updated spaces for students, staff, and the community.

The new school is planned to serve approximately 650 students, expanding capacity and improving the functionality of the campus.

Why this Project is Needed

The new Glenwood Elementary will:

• Expand capacity to serve a growing student population
• Provide modern classrooms and learning spaces that support current instructional programs
• Improve the campus layout, including expanded parking and better site circulation
• Separate bus circulation from parent drop-off and pick-up, addressing safety needs
• Address field layout and site challenges to maximize outdoor space for students and community use
• Provide classroom doors, improving safety and learning environments

Current Project Status

Bidding is expected in Spring 2027 with construction expected to begin in June 2027.

The school will be designed to make the most efficient use of the site, while supporting modern instructional spaces.

The project is currently in the schematic design phase. After Spring Break, design teams will meet with Glenwood educator teams to gather input and feedback as the building design continues to develop.
