Secure Receptions

All new and modernized spaces

  • Cavelero Mid High School, North Lake Middle School & Highland, Hillcrest, Mt. Pilchuck and Sunnycrest Elementary Schools

Lake Stevens School District will begin construction this summer on secure reception areas at several schools across the district. This project is part of the voter-approved 2025 School Construction Bond and is designed to enhance school safety while maintaining welcoming environments for students, staff, and visitors.

Project Timeline

  • Construction phase: Substantially Complete/Final Inspections
  • Estimated completion: Start of the 2026-27 school year

Why this Project is Needed

The Secure Receptions Project will enhance safety at school entrances by creating a secure vestibule and welcome reception area at the main entrance of each participating school.
These improvements help ensure that all visitors enter through a controlled access point and check in with school staff before accessing the rest of the building.

Temporary Office Locations

Prior to the end of this school year, main offices will relocate to alternate locations within each school to prepare for construction. These temporary office spaces will continue to be used throughout the summer and into August until construction is complete.

Schools will share additional information with families and visitors about how to access the temporary office locations during construction.

Current Project Status

September 2026

Fire inspections have been successfully completed. Furniture and technology (phones/network) have been set up and spaces are ready for day-one beneficial use (with temporary office setups continuing into early fall if needed).
