Subject(s): Special Education Math and Co-taught Algebra 2
I graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with degrees in Marketing and Psychology in 2007. Shortly after graduation I began working in sales, marketing and technical support for Verizon Wireless for about 10 years until I went back to school to get my teaching certificate in Math and Special Education from City University of Seattle in 2016. I student taught at Cavelero Mid-High while attending City University. I was hired at LSHS after completing my program and began teaching in the fall of 2017. After completing my first year of teaching at LSHS I decided to get my Masters Degree in Mid-Level Math and graduated from Western Governors University in May of 2019. My wife, Lyla Hippie, is also a teacher in the special education department at LSHS.
I am excited to work with your children to build math skills that they can carry with them long after graduation. I teach Math 1 (Pre-Algebra), Math 2 (Algebra 1) and Co-taught Algebra 2 with Mrs. VanHooser/Mrs. Kotlarov.
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my wife and four-year-old daughter. I am a huge Minnesota sports fan and love playing fantasy football. I also play hockey and softball in my free time as well.
We use Big Ideas Online math curriculum that students will have on their Chromebooks and I plan on using Google Classroom for other assignments and sharing information. The best way to contact me is through email since I work in different classrooms throughout the day. I look forward to getting to know your student and strengthening their math skills throughout the year.
