Welcome to my teacher page! I am Dawn Bleichner. I am the teacher of the Life Skills class at Cavelero Mid High School. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma...way back in 1978, with a BS in Special education. I then taught high school for 4 years before returning to post secondary school at East Central University for my master's degree in school psychology. I have taught at every grade level spanning preschool 4 and 5year olds, to the university level where I taught introductory psychology. I am endorsed for K-12 learning disabilities and life skills. I have also taught behavior classes.
I have taught in Florida, Oklahoma, Indiana, Iowa, Washington and South Carolina. My husband John, of 36 years, is an electrical engineer, and we have transferred a lot with his job at Honeywell. I am used to moving, because I am a military dependent. My father was a career officer in the Air Force. I moved as a child about every 2 to 3 years and attended 13 different schools. One particularly fun place I was fortunate to live was Tokyo, Japan for 3 years. Due to this wonderful life experience, I feel that I can adapt to any given situation, and I have become a very people oriented person. I certainly have a wealth of background knowledge to pull from for my teaching toolbox.
I taught high school from 1978 until 1984, when I took 10 years off to raise my children. I returned to the classroom when my youngest was in Pre-school. Since then, I have taught preschool, elementary and middle school students up through 9th grade.
I have been blessed with 3 children; Jeffrey, Daniel, and Bethany, who are now all married. I have 7 grandchildren and another due in mid December! All but one of my grandchildren live in Monroe, Washington. We recently moved back to the area from South Carolina to be close to our family. Lord willing, we are here for good!
My favorite things to do are: spend quality time with my grandbabies and family, read, sing, teach kids... especially my Sunday school bunch, go to Starbucks for chai tea, watch Oklahoma and Seahawk football, and go to Nascar races!
I love working with the Life Skills population at Cavelero. I have taught at North Lake, LSMS, and Cavelero as a resource/life skills teacher. This is my 9th year at Cavelero, and my 13th year in the district.
If you ever have any questions for me or concerns, please call me at 425-335-1600 ext #3806, or email me: firstname.lastname@example.org. I will get back to you after school, or as soon as I read your message.
