NORTH LAKE BULLDOG NEWS
Dear North Lake Families:
ATTENDANCE REMINDER – A quick reminder about procedures concerning student absences. Please remember to call or send a note ahead of time if you are excusing your student early from school for any given reason. This procedure helps minimize the interruptions to classrooms and allows the office staff to have a note delivered to your student so they are prepared. Also if your student is going to be absent for an extended amount of time such as a family vacation, please have your student pick up a “Prior Absence Request” form from the office. One is attached for your convenience.
TURN IT IN CHALLENGE - All students with no missing assignments from Monday, November 18th through Friday, December 6th will receive a popsicle on Monday, December 9th!
YEARBOOK SALES: Don’s miss out on the last opportunity to purchase a Yearbook beginning Monday, December 2nd through Friday, December 20th. The cost of the Yearbook is $28.00 (we accept cash, check or credit/debit card) and can be purchased in the North Lake office or follow the link on our website.
STRENGTHENING FAMILIES PROGRAM - Congratulations to our North Lake families and students who completed the 7 week evening family group - The Strengthening Families Program. Come join BATTLE OF THE BOOKS! Each year NLMS and LSMS hold a cross-district Battle of the Books competition. Students compete together in teams of four against other teams from NLMS and LSMS to answer trivia about the six chosen competition books. The Battle of the Books competition will take place on the evening of March 11th at the Lake Stevens High School Performing Arts Center. Practices for the competition are Tuesdays from 2:20-3:30 on January 14, January 21, January 28, February 4, February 11, February 18, March 3 and March 10. We will set up the teams at our first practice and discuss strategies for the competition at each of the practice sessions. The activity bus is available at 3:30 if students need transportation. Students need to have a signed permission slip to join the competition. The competition books are available for check out in the library as soon as the permission slip is turned in.
