I have been teaching since 2001. I have a Masters in Teaching, a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology, and a double Minor in Native American Studies and Anthropology. In addition, I've completed the Washington State's Pro-Certification program. I've enjoyed mentoring a pro-cert teacher as well as mentoring new teachers. Over the past years, I've piloted new programs for language arts; rewritten, and created curriculum to align with Common Core State Standards; participated on the Science Cadre and District Writing of Standardized State Assessment questions for both math and science, and volunteered to be the District Math Class Studio and welcomed Google to demonstrate using Google Classroom. I participate in professional development to continue to learn new technology and educational practices. I've also traveled extensively to many historical places learning about our country's history, and enjoyed traveling to several countries abroad.
I’m fortunate to have taught in the Lake Stevens School District for many years. I love teaching and learning from my students! We learn through a variety of forms including a balance of note taking, modeled work, and peer-tutoring. Students will learn to strengthen their work habits and study skills throughout the year.
Please be sure to check out moodle. Our Moodle will be a current communication to students and parents. Students will be directed to use this page for lesson plans, assignments, quizzes, and resources. Students will be given an enrollment key in class. Google Classroom is used to turn in assignments.
I have purchased Quizlet for students to practice their words stems and academic vocabulary. Students will need to create an account, which we will complete in class, using a parent's email and receive your permission to have this account. This is a wonderful program that differentiates learning.
Please check your child’s calendar as a preview of upcoming events, and Skyward for your student's progress. I update Skyward regularly. I encourage students to check on their progress often, and check their email each week. Please be sure to read the class course description that I will be sending home, and join us for curriculum night!

WA Common Core State Standards Awareness Campaign
The Ready Washington coalition launched a public awareness campaign called "Real Learning for Real Life" to help parents and the public better understand the Common Core State Standards. The Common Core, K-12 learning standards in math and English language arts, have been fully implemented in Washington public schools at every grade level.
