Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Neil Proff
Subject(s): Wind Ensemble, Music Appreciation, Concert Band, Guitar, and Jazz Ensemble 1
I have been the Director of Bands at Lake Stevens High School since 2006. I graduated from Fife High School in 1996, Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in Broad Area Music Education in 2002, and from The American Band College of Southern Oregon University with a Masters Degree in Instrumental Music Education and Conducting in 2009. In 2006 I won the Lake Stevens High School Apple Award. I received National Board Certification in 2012 and was also named the Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the Washington Association of School Administrators for our region.
In addition to the daily classes listed above I also direct the Marching Band, Pep Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Drumline. I also dabble in audio production on the side. Outside of Lake Stevens, I am currently the director of the Eastside Modern Jazz Orchestra, play Tenor 1 in The Northwest Jazz Conspiracy (a north end group comprised primarily of teachers), and also perform around the northwest playing saxophone. My hobbies include water sports, fishing, camping, landscaping, gardening, bonsai, basketball, wood design, furniture design, jazz jam sessions, UFC, and golfing though I pretty much live in the music room at Lake Stevens High School.
I love my job and the community here has been outstanding to me. I spend a great deal of time trying to make this program the best it can be. When I am not there, I am enjoying my beautiful wife Allie and wonderful family. My oldest son Cameron and his identical twin brothers Kaiden and Kieran are the light of my life. I so look forward to meeting you, please feel free to contact me.
