New Early Learning Center to welcome students in January 2018

Progress is continuing on the new Early Learning Center (ELC), which will be completed in late 2017. ELC students will begin the school year on Sept. 28 in their current building, adjacent to Hillcrest Elementary School. They will be welcomed into their new school-off of Lake Drive, in the north-end of the school district-on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018. ELC staff members will have time to move into their new building and set up classrooms and workspaces prior to the end of 2017 to be ready to welcome students after winter break.
ELC staff will host an Open House for families and students prior to winter break. Information will be shared with families from Matt Wyant, leader of the ELC, as details are finalized. A community-wide event and ribbon cutting will take place in early 2018—please stay tuned for updates.

The ELC serves three- and four-year-olds in the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program and the Developmental Preschool Program. The new building was slated to open this fall, but inclement weather and a change in one of the major subcontractors significantly contributed to the ongoing construction delays.
