Update on school calendar changes

Our Board of Directors voted during their March 13 meeting on revised calendar dates to make up missed days and instruction hours due to February’s snow. The Board approved the revised calendar dates with the last day of school being Friday, June 21. We received approval of our waiver request from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).

We received notification from OSPI that, in addition to making up the school days and instructional hours missed due to snow, we must also make up the time lost during our two hour late starts and our early release (Feb. 7, 8 and 14). In order to do that, we are making adjustments to our early release Fridays in April and May.

The following Fridays will follow the regular school schedule instead of an 85 minute early release:

  • April 26
  • May 3
  • May 10
  • May 17
  • May 24
  • May 31

We appreciate our partnership with the Lake Stevens Education Association, and the collaboration and flexibility that went into selecting these dates. We are also very thankful for the patience and understanding of our parents and families. We know how much of an impact calendar changes have on your schedules.

Please remember:

  • The last day of school for 12th-graders—Friday, June 7—has not changed
  • Lake Stevens High School’s 2019 Graduation—Tuesday, June 11—has not changed.

Please remember that further calendar adjustments will be needed if we have any additional missed days due to weather or emergencies.
