2022-23 calendar dates approved by Board of Directors

Revised calendar shifts the first days of school, Winter Break

At the end of April, the Board of Directors approved a revised school calendar for the 2022-23 school year.

With the establishment of Junteenth as a federal holiday and legal state paid holiday, the previously scheduled last day of school in June 2023 needed to be adjusted. As previously scheduled, the last day of school would have been a 2.5 hour early release following a three-day weekend.

Once we recognized the issues with having a single, half-day of school following a three-day week as the last day of school, we began examining revised calendar options in consultation with the Lake Stevens Educational Association. We greatly appreciate our partnerships with our employee groups, and will soon convene a committee to recommend our next three-year cycle of calendars, which will then be presented to the Board of Directors for approval.

We are also very thankful for your patience and understanding. We know how much of an impact calendar changes have on family schedules. We are hopeful that this early notification allows you to adjust your plans as needed.
